A summer proposal at Brookgreen Gardens & Myrtle Beach
Austin and Haley set off from Battle Creek, Michigan, excited for a surprise birthday getaway to Myrtle Beach. With a love story that started when they were just 18, this trip would be more than just a birthday celebration; it would be a pivotal moment for the couple and their family.
Myrtle beach became the backdrop for an unforgettable engagement, planned (by yours truly!) with a garden tour proposal and photoshoot and champagne celebration at sunset. The weekend was packed with laughter, sunshine, and delicious brunches, all tailored for these two who deserved a child-free vacation!

How we planned this proposal
Austin reached out to me on Instagram, and together (through many introductory and check-in phone calls!) we crafted the perfect details to ensure every moment was special. We created them a vacation itinerary, including visits to the most picturesque spots and indulging in the best local cuisine. The centerpiece of the trip was the magical proposal location: Brookgreen Gardens.
To keep the proposal under wraps, we devised a covert operation.
Austin met Jordan (my fiancé, assistant, and part-time comedic relief) in the bathrooms to plot the perfect strategy. After scouting three potential proposal spots in the gardens, Austin zeroed in on a beautiful row of oak trees—an idyllic setting for his grand reveal. Like stealthy agents on a mission, we followed Austin and Haley around the gardens, making sure to keep Haley blissfully unaware of the plan unfolding around her. I joked later on that I hope she never has a stalker because she had no idea we followed her around for 20 minutes sneaking cute photos before we got to our proposal location!
When the moment arrived, everything fell into place effortlessly. Austin and Haley paused for a cute selfie, our pre-arranged signal, just as I casually approached and asked if they would like me take their picture. I positioned them perfectly among the ancient trees.
We loved how happy and shocked she was when she realized the girl who offered to take a photo ended up being the photographer that Austin hired to make this an unforgettable weekend in Myrtle Beach.
